HONOREES
Barbara Lazaroff will receive the first annual Alliance for Housing & Healing’ Visionary Award for her exemplary work as a tireless and award-winning designer, restaurateur, author, and philanthropist. Over the years, her varied charitable works have touched almost every area of philanthropy from humanitarian, social, and educational to environmental, artistic and medical. She led the production of a cookbook for People Living with HIV/AIDS and has been involved in a number AIDS charities. Her substantial support of AIDS assistance includes such well-known regional fundraisers as Project Angel Food’'s Divine Design, Dining Out For Life, and Aid for AIDS'’ Go Eat LA, among others. As a designer, she has garnered many accolades for her innovative and singularly unique and forward-thinking restaurant designs as well as for her showcase rooms such as Greystone, Frette, and her elegant home design. Holland Taylor will receive the first annual Aid for AIDS Celebrity Trailblazer Award for her long-standing support for social justice and HIV/AIDS. The AFA Celebrity Trailblazer Award acknowledges and celebrates individuals in theater, film and television who have significantly impacted the community through their personal contributions and professional portrayal of positive characters. An award-winning actor and major supporter of Aid For AIDS, Ms. Taylor' s portrayals of powerful, self-assured, and deeply thoughtful leaders have encouraged self-respect, high ideals, and a desire to make a difference. Creator and writer of her one-woman show based on the life of Ann Richards, the former Governor of Texas, she will be performing the highly-regarded tribute at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in December of 2011. Among her charitable contributions, she has lent her time and talents, and given substantial financial support to numerous fundraisers such as Best In Drag Show to raise money for Aid for AIDS. W. David Hardy, M.D. will receive the first annual Alliance Humanitarian Award . Dr. Hardy is the Director, Division of Infectious Diseases, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Associate Professor of Medicine-in-Residence, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA . He has cared for persons with HIV since 1982 and has conducted research which has produced many of the life-saving treatments for HIV since 1984. Dr. Hardy serves or has served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of HIV Medicine, Alliance for Housing and Healing, AIDS Project Los Angeles, and Project Angel Food. He has served on the scientific committees for various national and international HIV congresses. Since 1988, he has been president of the Los Angeles Physicians AIDS Forum, which he co-founded. Lisa Ann Walter, award-winning actress, comedienne, director and producer, will preside over A Faire of the Heart 2011 as Mistress of Ceremonies. Lisa Ann Walter's career spans television, film and the stage with stand-out roles in the films The Parent Trap and Shall We Dance and as creator of the internationally popular Dance Your Ass Off.
